A promoter that allow the plasmid to be expressed in S. cerevisiae
This promoter enables the plasmid to inducibly express proteins in S. cerevisiae by adding galactose.
Usage and Biology
Biology
GAL1 encodes for an enzyme specific to galactose metabolism--galactokinase. GAL1 promoter can be repressed by glucose or induced by galactose.
Usage
GAL1 promoter is one of the strongest promoters used in S. cerevisiae for recombinant protein production.
